LANSchool Demo: This is similar to Remote Desktop, but can be used cross platform - on both PC and Mac. That is a real advantage. People who have used this say this is very stable and doesn't crash the lab like Remote Desktop will often do.
SIRS search is now called "Issues Researcher" - Leading Issues includes video clips and top 10. Now indexed with Library of Congress subject headings and searching by keyword search. Never find a page that says there are not results for this search. Advanced Search now has Subject Index and a Lexile range for reading level. Image search will now include thumbnails. Curriculum Pathfinder (bottom right) is a new feature which includes a search cloud showing most popular research ideas by subject areas correlating with curriculum.
Most of the change is about 300 Leading and Sub Issues. Click on "visual browse" and sub issues open in a new window for convenience. Timeline pages are available and include an MLA citation. Alls SIRS resources include MLA citations. These is a Translate option that will convert to different languages. Read aloud option can be turned on. Audio mp3 option available.
Topic overview is found on any issues page includes terms with overview and in the right hand column rich resources of all kinds. Research guides have great templates and tools in word and ppt for doing writing or research. iThink tutor will walk students through the process. Educator Resources will take you right to "Note Organizer" which can be saved and emailed to you for future editing/printing.
